Discover UnionPay is launching a new 8-series BIN range that will start with the number “8” to support continued cardholder growth. The 8-series cards are expected to appear in the market starting in January 2019.

To ensure that your system is ready for the new cards, you’ll need to add the “8” prefix to your existing Discover pay codes.

In Counterpoint, navigate to Setup | System | Pay Codes. Choose your Discover or Credit pay code (or whichever pay code you use when accepting Discover cards).
On the Credit Cards tab, find the first available blank prefix box and add the number 8.
Save the pay code.

That’s it! You’re ready to accept the new 8-series cards when you see them!

Counterpoint Integration
